About the blog

Methods & Madness is a blog about tabletop RPGs - mainly under the D&D and OSR influence.

It contains reviewshouse rulesrandom tables, some reflections on actual play, and lots of random thoughts about various aspects of RPGs, especially the mechanics.

My favorite versions of D&D are of the "Basic" line and its clones (including my own), but I also enjoy many aspects of other editions, most notably 1e (especially the DMG - which I've been analyzing cover to cover) and 5e.

I occasionally review and comment on other games, such as Mythras, SotDLElthos, etc., in addition to my own books, of course.

I also review fantasy literature, including books from the Appendix N. Tolkien and Moorcock are some of my favorites.

I am a fan of dark fantasy and it permeates much of my activity online.

I hope you enjoy it!
